David Harman Design was founded on the principle of designing world-class golf courses that meet our client's needs and expectations. Successful golf course design utilizes the natural features of the land to the maximum potential. David Harman designed golf courses in a traditional architectural style. He avoided the gimmicks and passing fads that resulted in major cost overruns. An intimate knowledge of each proposed golf course site was required before the first line was drawn on paper. There must be a first hand understanding of the land and all of its environmental issues. David Harman was personally involved in all aspects of the design process from start to finish.

David Harman began building golf courses in 1971. In 1980, he founded Golf Course Consultants, Inc., a company engaged in the construction of golf courses around the world. For over twenty years, he constructed golf courses for such noted architects as Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio and Arnold Palmer. He was actively involved in bringing those designs to life in the field. His long experience of constructing over 150 golf courses worldwide had given him valuable insight for design criteria and successful project planning.

Harman's design objective for Shingle Creek Golf Club was to make the course play fair while keeping it a unique and extraordinary test of golf. Assisting this effort are five sets of tees, which enables players to select their own degree of difficulty. We believe he succeeded!
